What happens beneath the surface

Face taping is inspired by Japanese beauty traditions, building on the same method as kinesiology taping for the body.

You've probably seen it before: the colorful tape athletes use for injuries and rehab. The secret is a unique pattern on the underside of the tape. It creates a mechanical lift that raises the skin away from the underlying fascia, easing the pressure on your facial muscles and giving your circulation and lymphatic system more room to flow.

Supports circulation

Good circulation is essential for healthy skin. By delivering oxygen and nutrients, it helps even out your skin tone, stimulates cell renewal and gives your skin a natural glow.

Eases lymphatic flow

When the kinesiology tape lifts the skin away from the underlying fascia, it creates extra space that helps your lymphatic system flow better. An efficient lymphatic system helps carry away excess fluid and reduce puffiness.

Releases tension

Most of us frown at our screens or clench our jaws at night, often without even noticing. The tape eases the pressure on your muscles and trains them to relax, and when your muscles get to rest, it can relieve tension headaches and tight jaws.

Where fine lines tend to form

Wrinkles don't appear overnight. They form in the areas where your skin moves the most, and knowing where fine lines tend to show up helps you use your face tape in the right places.

FAQ

Everything you're wondering about, from your first night to taking the tape off.

How long should I wear the tape?

Whatever works for you! Lots of people wear it while they wind down in the evening, most sleep in it overnight, and some like wearing it for a while at their desk when working from home. You can leave it on for up to about eight hours.

How do I take the tape off?

Lift one corner and roll the tape off slowly and close to your skin, rather than pulling straight out. If it's holding on tight, a little warm water or a drop of face oil helps the adhesive let go.

Can I use it if my skin is sensitive?

Yes, the adhesive is developed especially for the thin skin on your face, and if yours is extra sensitive, our infused kits are a lovely choice. As with any product there are exceptions and some risk of irritation, so try a small area the first time.

When will I notice a difference?

It's different for everyone and depends on the results you're after, but think of it as a ritual rather than a quick fix: the more regularly you tape, the more chance your skin and muscles get to recover.

Can face taping be an alternative to Botox?

Yes and no. Lots of us are looking for something gentler than needles, and face taping is exactly that: a needle-free way to let your muscles rest and keep your skin well rested. It's worth having the right expectations, though: a gentle tape will never have the same fast, dramatic effect as Botox or fillers. If you ask us, that's only a good thing.

Is face tape skincare?

Not quite. HOLLI face tape is a CE-certified medical device made from kinesiology tape, and it works beautifully alongside the skincare you already use.
